YouTube is exploring features for video creators to use NFTs on their platform.

CEO Susan Wojcicki made the announcement on Tuesday in a letter on the company’s 2022 priorities.

“We’re always focused on expanding the YouTube ecosystem to help creators capitalise on emerging technologies, including things like NFTs, while continuing to strengthen and enhance the experiences creators and fans have on YouTube,” wrote Wojcicki wrote.

The video sharing platform has been monitoring Web 3.0 developments and is particularly keen to embrace NFTs.

Describing the Web 3.0 world as a “source of inspiration to continue innovating on YouTube,” Wojcicki said decentralised tech can bolster the connection between creatives and fans.

“The past year in the world of crypto, nonfungible tokens (NFTs), and even decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) has highlighted a previously unimaginable opportunity to grow the connection between creators and their fans,” she wrote.
