Singapore blockchain gaming company Gamepay has raised US$1.2 million in pre-seed funding from Seier Capital and 8i Holdings.

Founded by Brazilian-born entrepreneur Daniel Dos Santos in 2021, Gamepay seeks to “democratise access to the metaverse” by bringing blockchain-based games and NFTs to underprivileged communities. It also provides the tools and infrastructure for developers to access emerging markets.

The company’s native P2E (play-to-earn) game, Chickey Chik, will be fully launched by the third quarter of 2022, while the game’s NFT market place will be available later this month. The NFTs can also be sold on Opensea and its native token SILK is set to be released on DEXs (decentralised exchanges). The company has plans to develop a SILK blockchain by the end of the year.

According to Dos Santos, Chickey Chik will be available in seven languages to accomodate the low-income demographics.
