Cristiano Ronaldo Joins The Metaverse In Peter Lim’s New Tech Startup

Singapore Tycoon Peter Lim and his son Kiat Lim have launched ZujuGP, a digital platform for football endorsed by Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Portuguese football star announced the launch of ZujuGP on his Instagram, and was later unveiled as a Chinese-style warrior in a commercial that has since amassed more than 9 million views.

ZujuGP aims to facilitate communication between commerce and the global football community, and will allow fans to digitally engage with football players, watch games virtually and buy merchandise. It will also enable clubs and agents to scout talents.

“The future of football is here and it is digital”, Kiat Lim said. “ZujuGP will be a tech-driven community that will engage fans in a cohesive, compelling manner, while driving efficiencies for the business side of football”.

According to Bloomberg, the platform will also tap on artificial intelligence and blockchain technology.

The Singapore-based startup is targeting Asia as the next major market for football, as the region is home to 60% of the world’s population. It also has a rapidly growing fan base that will be a significant source of revenue for the industry.

Just like the metaverse, the “footballverse” can provide a more immersive landscape for fans. If achieved, a blockchain-based footballverse will cause a paradigm shift in our understanding of ownership in the football industry.
